The Opening of Ink Painting of Pengcheng-The National Exhibition of Freehand Brush Works of Chinese Painting
Weishan Wu, Li Xu, She Liu and Qipu Feng Attended the Event
On 12th Sep., Ink Painting of Pengcheng-The National Exhibition of Freehand Brush Works of Chinese Painting was opened in Xuzhou Art Gallery. The vice chairman of Chinese Artists Association and curator of National Art Museum of China, Weishan Wu, the deputy secretary of branch committee and secretary general of Chinese Artists Association, Li Xu, the vice chairman of Jiangsu Province Artists Association and dean of art department in Nanjing Normal University, She Liu, the director of MICE section of Chinese Artists Association, Weili, the deputy director, Songru Du, municipal officers Qipu Feng, Zhiming Shu, Xingzhen Feng, Aijun Zhang were presented in the opening ceremony.

The art exhibition was co-hosted by Chinese Artists Association, CPC Xuzhou Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Xuzhou City. Totally 3851 pieces of artworks were collected for the activity and assessed by CAA through three reviews. Among them, the 301 finalists were selected to be shown in the exhibition for their distinctive themes, contemporaneity, exquisite art and the combination of refined and popular tastes. It served a delicate art feast to the majority people of Xuzhou City.
Qipu Feng gave a speech and stated that, “The national art exhibition held in Xuzhou will further improve the popularity of painting and calligraphy of Xuzhou, immensely foster the painting school of Pengcheng and promote the construction of Xuzhou painting and calligraphy art. In this century, there has been a great deal of enormous masters in painting and calligraphy from Xuzhou who are reputed throughout the world. The artists group from Xuzhou have made brilliant achievements and contributed to build outstanding phenomena of painting and calligraphy in Xuzhou city. In recent years, on the emphasis of fostering the painting school of Pengcheng and constructing the painting and calligraphy art of Xuzhou, the municipal committee and government of Xuzhou highlight the task in implementing the cultural brand of “Blow the Chinese Wind” and take efforts to establish the best development environment for painting and calligraphy art in China. The brand effect of Pengcheng school has revealed itself gradually and becomes the critical support in building a powerful cultural city of Xuzhou. I hope that all the literature and art workers in the city will treasure the opportunity and joint hands to create a more splendid chapter of art.”
Li Xu addressed that, “A number of influential art masters of their times have been emerged in Xuzhou. While, the influence of artists from Xuzhou in art grows in recent years. This exhibition is set as a good beginning of calling for the return of freehand brush spirit of Chinese painting. “ He expressed the hope that, “Xuzhou will create a cultural brand for China and carry forward the freehand brush spirit in contemporary Chinese art to a new generation, so as to allow more and more public to enjoy the charm of Chinese traditional culture through the screen.“
