Chinese Painter Li Xu Won the Honorary Fellowship of Russia

On the 15th Sep., the honorary president of Chinese Artists Association, Shangyi Jin and the president of China Oil Painting Society, Jianjun Zhan were invited to witness the ceremony held in Moscow, in which the president of Russian Art and Science Academy, Zurab Tsereteli, awarded the Honorary Fellowship of Russia to the renowned Chinese painter Li Xu.

As a prominent Russian artist, Zurab Tsereteli is an adept sculptor and an expert in sketch, copper etching, woodcut, oil painting and the other art categories. He was pleased with the occasion whereby the Chinese artist was awarded with the Honorary Fellowship of Russia to Russian Art and Science Academy. He stated that:”I have a special affection towards China. As I remembered, when I was a kid, a Chinese man named Fu Liu had been worked for my grandfather. He is great help and a big influence on my discipline. I have had a pleasant memory about him.” On this account, he is passionate about Chinese culture too.

 

He pointed out that, “With the profound Chinese culture and the distinctive achievement of Chinese art, China and Russia will make progress shoulder by shoulder in the field of art, on the basis of mutual learning and integration. This time the awarding of honorary fellowship to a Chinese artist from Russian Art and Science Academy, reflects the existence of foundation for extensive exchanges and creates an opportunity for further communications and cooperation between China and Russian both in culture and art.”  

 

Li Xu said that, “The artists from China and Russia have reached a good tradition of friendships. The development of Chinese modern art has been benefited from the nurturing of Soviet art. Since the innovation and opening up of China, our national strength has been enhanced greatly, becoming the strong support for the development of Chinese art. The awarding ceremony shows the respect of Russia to China and Chinese art and proves that Chinese art is developing at the same pace with global art. At present, China and Russia are having very good political relationships, which offer an opportunity for further exchanges in art for the two nations. Besides, the promotion of extensive exchanges with Russia and other countries of the world in art will enhance the prosperity and development of Chinese art.”

 

Chinese-Russian Artists Society provided great assistance on the award ceremony. The secretary general of the society, Nizhen Xing stated that, “The award of honorary fellowship to a Chinese artist by Russian Art and Science Academy is a piece of joyous news to all Chinese-Russian artists. At present, the art circles of China and Russia are expected to have a full range and multiple levels communication, Chinese-Russian Artists Society is willing to promote the exchanges between the two nations.”

 

Li Xu is a renowned contemporary Chinese painter who excels in oil painting. Now he is serving as the secretary general of Chinese Artists Association. Dozens of art works created by Li Xu has been appeared in large albums and collections around China. Many of them are introduced on publications of prestigious journals in domestic and broad. He wins the honorable titles as one of the Top 50 Chinese Painter, one of the Top Ten Great Oil Painter of the year and the other honors in China.
